Coffee accounts for 1/3 of all beverages consumed.  Over 81% of the UK adult population drink coffee ‘out of the home’ with Lattes and Cappuccinos proving the most popular.   The total number of drinks consumed within the market as a whole is currently estimated to be 120m, currently worth more than £75m, with bean to cup coffee systems emerging as key destination drivers for the convenience market.

So how is grab and go developing? – Coffee consumption out of the home is the fastest growing segment of the UK beverage market, with disposable cup sales indicating annual growth rates of 17% (Polarcup). This increasing propensity to purchase take away coffee is particularly pronounced in younger age groups, who are the locomotives for the market.  44% of visitors to High Street outlets claim to buy take away coffee at least once per week and 14% daily with some 50% of consumers admitting they “rarely have time for breakfast” (Mintel).
