LADIES EVENT GETS IN THE PINK!
BRISTOL STREET MOTORS (Main Renault Dealer) held a pioneering Ladies Only event at their prestigious Exeter showroom @ Marsh Barton on October 26th raising monies for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The event featuring a fashion show by John Lewis, cars, health & beauty, interior design & jewellery, proved so popular that the dealership had to turn people away! Around 200 ladies attended the event where they were welcomed with wine and buffet plus FREE entry into prize draws with fabulous prizes worth nearly £1,000 in total.
The event supported the Breast Cancer Awareness month “In the Pink” campaign by selling official charity ‘pink pins’ for £1 each, which automatically entered guests into a prize draw for the chance to win John Lewis gift vouchers to the value of £50 or one of four luxury Renault picnic rucksacks, raising just under £200 for this worthy cause.
Quote from event organiser, Catherine Petherick, Bristol Street Motors Fleet Manager:
“The event was a huge success and we were disappointed to have to say “No” to ladies who left it too late to book, as we could not take any more guests for health and safety reasons. From the guests who attended, we have been inundated with complimentary comments such as a “wonderful”, “delightful”, “super”, “great”, “fun”, “interesting” and even “magical evening” - to name but a few. One lady even said it was “the best event she had ever been to”! Says Catherine. “I want to thank Debbie Ling at John Lewis and all the exhibitors for helping to make it such a fantastic event and for all the hard work by the Bristol Street Motors team who went beyond the call of duty to ensure it was such a successful event”.
Guests had the opportunity to visit the stands of local exhibitors and do some pre-Christmas shopping in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Magdalen Road aka “The Shopping Village” was strongly represented by In.EX.2 Interior Design, Leaf Street Gift shop and Head Space. Queues quickly formed for the FREE Indian Head Massages by Evelyn Goodier of County Chiropractic, as well as at the stand of Personal Trainer Shem Lopez of Inspiration
Fitness who was giving FREE composition analysis utilising infrared, technology to measure body fat & hydration. John Sculpher Photography who was launching ‘FRESH’, a photo shoot experience for everyday woman of all ages attracted the crowds by giving a ‘special event offer’ for the ‘FRESH’ experience at a cost of just £25 instead of the usual £100, which includes hair, make-up and photo shoot. Reflexetions Beauty & Body Therapy @ Exmouth Marina gave away Guinot Goody Bags and Trisha Stewart from the Clinic for Delivering Health and Wellbeing handed out complimentary vouchers each worth £20. An optional car mini-maintenance workshop by Bristol Street Motors, showing the ladies how to change a tyre also proved popular.
Other Exhibitors included:
Charmaines Dress Agency, ‘Tractor Boy’ from the Black Thunder Crew - Gemini Radio FM, Ladies go Racing and Devon Today who gave away copies of their popular monthly magazine.
The main event of the evening was a Fashion Show by Debbie Ling, Personal Fashion Advisor for John Lewis, Cribbs Causeway who gave styling tips and techniques in true “What Not to Wear” style as well as giving away goodies. Following the fashion show, Rosemary Pell, Manager of Road User Support Service gave an informative talk on the tailor-made programmes of practical and therapeutic assistance offered by RUSS for anyone involved in or affected by a road traffic incident.
The evening culminated with a hair demonstration by Shaun Rowden of Head Space, who is the South West Ambassador for MOP (modern organic products). Shaun restyled volunteer Vanessa Cobb’s hair by giving her a “Posh Spice Bob” in front of a packed audience and also gave away MOP goody bags to each guest.
