Charity kick-starts fundraising appeal at Exeter Racecourse

May 16, 2016

WESC Foundation - The Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment hosted a private event for 25 VIP guests in the ‘Golden Jubilee Box’, overlooking the finishing line at Exeter Racecourse. The guests including patrons, supporters and WESC Ambassador Judi Spiers, enjoyed a Devon High Tea and a flutter at the last race day of the season.

Everyone was a winner at the ‘Season Finale’, the highlight of the racing calendar at Exeter racecourse, with WESC as the designated charity. WESC volunteers and staff collected monies for the ‘Outdoor Activities Fund’, which includes horse riding and an annual residential retreat for learners at the Calvert Trust. Located on Exmoor, the Calvert Trust enables people with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities to experience exciting, challenging and enjoyable outdoor activities.

On the day £1500 was raised through bucket collections and private donations, with the funds going towards the upgrading of sports facilities at the WESC campus.
