Ken White Signs, a high-quality sign making company based in Tiverton, is celebrating 50-years in business by giving back to the local community! Ken White and his late wife Jean, started Ken White Signs (KWS) in 1967 in their home town of Tiverton. Today his three sons, Chris, Simon and Ben all continuing the family business. As part of the golden milestone, the well-known, Devon-based family-run company is offering an array of FREE bespoke marketing material, to support many local charities, independent retailers and schools.
Rackenford Church of England Primary School in Tiverton, was the first local school to take part in the Ken White Signs (KWS) 50th anniversary competition. The competition is part of KWS giving back to the local community where they have operated their family-owned business for five decades by creating free tailored signage for Tiverton schools, charities and independent retailers. The children at Rackenford were asked by the teachers to create a bespoke graphic representing a motivational message as part of the school’s aims to provide a stimulating, happy and educational environment, encouraging respect for others and teaching Christian values.
Rackenford’s mission statement is for individuals to develop their potential; physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially by learning together in a happy and stimulating educational environment, which values the Christian tradition of the school. Before the competition started, Ben White, Sales & Finance Director of Ken White Signs, visited the school to look at the site, and suggest what sort of sign would be best and where it could be displayed within the building.
Kate Dunning, Head of School – Rackenford C of E VA Primary School said: “We’re really pleased that Ken White Signs offered this opportunity to all of the TCLP schools in Tiverton, because we’re already part of that community and that was incredibly important to us. She adds: We decided to create a sign based on Rackenford’s core values of compassion; friendship; respect; trust; truthfulness; perseverance, and forgiveness. So, we held a competition for all of the children across the school, asking them to choose one of the core values and produce a piece of artwork they thought best represented these. A number of the children chose stories from the bible to represent the core values, and the teachers judged the artwork and the best designs were chosen to go on our sign. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Ken White Signs for this opportunity and – happy 50th Birthday!”
